Coach Fred Quartlebaum
A Winning Culture

Fred Quartlebaum joined the Kansas men’s basketball staff as director of student-athlete development in June 2013. In 2020 he moved to the director of basketball operations role. In this he handles many day-in and day-out logistics and procedures with the student-athletes and staff. Included has been Quartlebaum heading KU men’s basketball’s social injustice initiatives to educate and act toward the issues that have arose in the U.S. Additionally, Quartlebaum is on the University of Kansas Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leadership Committee and participates in the Pre-Game Chalk Talks prior to home contests informing season ticket holders scouting tips about upcoming contests.

In August 2021, Quartlebaum co-authored the book “The Positivity Tribe in the Locker Room” with Christopher Wirth. The Positivity Tribe in the Locker Room highlights the value of focusing on the details, and how small wins lead to huge victories. In Nov. 2021, Quartlebaum was named one of 50 to the Top Division I Support Staffs in NCAA Division I basketball.
